A 35-year-old Bollywood actress has died of natural causes at her home in an undisclosed location in central India, the official news agency said.
According to a report in The Hindu newspaper, Gauri Varma, 35 and her husband and daughter had recently celebrated the birth of their daughter on April 8.
Varma was reportedly rushed to hospital after collapsing.
She was later declared dead.
Her daughter, Rajesh, a producer, said in a statement to NDTV on Sunday that her mother had died in her sleep.
She said Varma had been diagnosed with multiple myeloma, a blood cancer, in December 2015.
Her family, including Varma’s brother, have not yet spoken publicly about her death.
Varsa was born in Delhi and graduated from the prestigious Institute of Theatre Arts in Mumbai in 1984.
She played roles in the blockbuster films Mahaadhar (1986), Bajrangi Bhaijaan (1988), Vadodara (1990), and The Bajrashishtami (1991).
In 2011, she won the India’s Got Talent.
